Chimneys and Caps

It seems the only times we think about our chimneys is when the chimney cleaner calls or Christmas comes. And the only time chimney caps come to mind is when something from the outside got inside and wouldn’t have if a proper chimney cap had been in place. Chimneys can be made of brick, stone, metal and other materials. Chimney caps can be made of clay or clay pots, metal and screens.

If you are a home owner that has a masonry fireplace and chimney, take a look at the standard flue pipes that are sticking out of the top of the chimney. How do they look to you? Actually, they are not that attractive, but there is something you can do about it. Adding a decorative cap or clay pot can turn an ordinary looking chimney into a work of art. There are so many different styles and materials to choose from and this can really help your house stand out, without a huge expense.
