Tuesday, August 05, 2008

Rick

I've seen this on a show once where they put the flooring (laminate) flush up against the cabinets, rather than doing all floors first THEN putting in cabinets. I think it was just for their demo purposes, but I'm wondering if that's okay to do? Or will it look bad?

Ask Rick- My Bathroom Door Squeaks

Tuesday, August 05, 2008

Rick.......our bathroom door squeaked every time we opened it so we sprayed WD40 on all the hinges. We seemed to fix one problem, but created another. Now the door doesn't squeak but if we want to partially close the door without shutting it entirely this is no longer possible. Pardon the expression, but did we "over WD40" the hinges? Is there any way to reverse this?

Ask Rick - Re-finishing Cabinets

Tuesday, August 05, 2008

I hated my drab, boring cabinets. They were finished in a honey oak. I love the look of cherry, so I stripped them and used a stain/varnish all in one product.

My problem is that it does not look good. It's hard to get smooth and even and it is already chipping off. What can I do? Should I have just stained and then varnished? Please help. I don't know what to do now!
