It seems like every time I cook, I set off the smoke detector. Do you know if there a detector that has some sort of a snooze or delay button? I hate taking the battery out while I am cooking because I might forget to put it back in. Do you have any good ideas that might help me with this problem. Jordo
There are new smoke detectors that you can get that just might help solve your problem. One of them is the First Alert Dual Sensor smoke detector. It uses a 9 volt battery for power and it has a combination ionization and photoelectric sensor that is very accurate and effective.
If you get the First Alert model SA302CN, it has features including a remote-controlled alarm silence and test with Intelligent Sensing that can tell the difference between smoke from cooking in your kitchen from actual emergencies.
One other thing to remember that placement of smoke detectors is crucial. It makes sense that locating a detector far enough away from the kitchen cooking area, when possible, is a good idea. However when you don't have this option, a smoke detector like the First Alert described above, is a great option to solve you problem.
I hope this helps.
